when the backup.tar.gz should be included in the ISO
e.g. via "BACKUP_URL=iso:///backup" (cf. "man rear")
it means the backup.tar.gz must be created in the directory
that contains all the files that will be included in the ISO.
By default that ISO directory is /tmp/rear.XXXXXX/tmp/isofs/

In particular with "BACKUP_URL=iso:///backup" the backup.tar.gz
will be created in /tmp/rear.XXXXXX/tmp/isofs/backup/

For example on my test system I get:

# ls -lh /tmp/rear.TblgN85TzZHRdxF/tmp/isofs/backup/
total 1.2G
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 6.7M Apr  9 15:42 backup.log
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1.1G Apr  9 15:42 backup.tar.gz
---------------------------------------------------------------
which means my 1.1G backup.tar.gz is created below /tmp/
