Hello,

You have some basic information into doc/user-guide directory on rear Distribution tgz (I'm attatching it to this e-mail). It was a very usefull start point for me.

To exclude some filesystems, you can use "EXCLUDE_MOUNTPOINTS=( fs1 fs2 ... fsn )"

Greetings,
Ivan

Hello Ivan,

  Thanks for your quick response and I find it useful. I could not find the documentation that deals with all the available syntax/variables that I can use for /etc/rear/local.conf. Have some more questions:

(1) For a full system backup, what is the syntax that I should use (want to include the directories /boot, /etc, /var, /home, /opt, /lib /lib64, /usr. The point here is I don't want to use a DVD image to recover the system by installing the OS.

(2) What is the syntax for excluding directoris/files.

(3) How does the BACKUP_URL and OUTPUT_URL differ (again pardon me since I don't have complete documentation that I can refer to).

Thanks,
V.A

Hello,

The following options are working for me:

OUTPUT=ISO
BACKUP=NETFS
BACKUP_URL=iso:///backup/
OUTPUT_URL=file:///mnt/Storage/
EXCLUDE_MOUNTPOINTS=( /mnt/ETL_Storage )
AUTOEXCLUDE_MULTIPATH=

Hope to be helpfull.

Hello,

  I am trying to configure the ReaR. My goal is to configure the Rear to backup the entire system running LinuxOS. So I would like to backup and recover the "/", "/boot" directories to ISO output. I would like to first place the iso locally. At present I could get the ISO output placed locally. However, my ISO output is about 30-40MB. So I would like to request your help to configure the /etc/rear/local.conf with the an example of variables to be used in the local.conf for backing up the entire system. The "/" directory is about 3.0GB. Thanks.

V.A.
