Grub2 is supported, at least
in fedora 17/18. Must be something trivial.

Could you open an issue at
https://github.com/rear/rear/issues

and perhaps re-run it with Debug
mode:

# rear -vD mkrescue

if the output is too long to paste (and it
probably is) then drop it into gist.github.com and link it into the
issue.
