I was wondering if datcompression vs. compression is related to the DAT
drive? Could it be that DAT drives need a different parameter than other
drives? I don't have tape hardware any more, I was just wondering. Maybe
instead of trying both we should somehow recognize the tape type and use
the appropriate commands.

Maybe this is just BS thoughts.
