Jeroen was right and Kai-Olaf in the linked post too :-)

I've to change the bootloader settings in sles11 via yast *before*
I'm taking a backup.

I suggest to do the following steps:

	- change fstab-settings via yast or manually (e.g. /dev/cciss/c0d0p1
instead of /dev/disk/by-ID/...)

	- change bootloader via yast (let yast propose a new configuration
and set bootloader location to mbr instead of root-partition)

	- change /boot/grub/device.map manually from e.g. (hd0)
/dev/disk/by-ID/xxx to hd(0) /dev/cciss/c0d0

after these steps there are a correct /etc/grub.conf.

Backup and recovery works well now.

	Regards

	Thomas

btw. why can't be recovered a bootloader which resides in boot sector
of a partition instead mbr? Maybe a bug in SLES, there is rear (in
version 1.7.x) included (HA extension)?
